Glue and paste

Bookbinding glue

Bookbinding glue is made for paper and thus good ag cardboard and paper projects. It’s a white thick and fast drying waterbased PVA adhesive that does not smell, dries clear and easily applicated with a brush. Dillute with water. Please note that bookbinding glue does not agree with freezeing temperature.
I use it undilluted to glue the box pieces together, attach lid plates or wherever I a little extra strength in general.

Paste

The term paste in this blog refers to a mixture of bookbinding glue and wallpaper paste. Undilluted bookbinding glue is mixed with ready made wallpaper paste at a 50/50 or 60/40 ratio or until it has a consistency of junket.
I use the paste for applying paper, bookcloth, velvet paper, leather etc. I keep the paste in a small jar that I fill up continuously – this way it does not take up space on my workspace and if it should tumble is only a minor catastrophy.

Allround glue

You know, that yellow tube that has been around for ages … I only use it in cases where the bookbinding glue doesn’t stick and I need to place eg. a metal ornament. You need to place it correctly the first time because this glue sticks well.

Decoupage glue

Also known as Mod Podge whick is made for decoupage and similar paper projects. I use it as a varnish if I decorate with intricately cut designs. I prefer the matt version but ir really comes down to taste which one you like.
